ISHPEMING -- Organizers say the Second Annual Buddy Walk for Down Syndrome Awareness will go down in history...the first ever with snow, rain and hail.  But that didn't keep 200 people from showing up at the Al Quaal Recreation area in Ishpeming.

The walk benefits the Upper Peninsula Down Syndrome Association, and this year they're donating all of the proceeds to new families with down syndrome newborns.

"We purchase gift baskets that contain books and DVDs with information about down syndrome so families with a new baby can learn as much as they can. We also purchase books to give to physicians so when their patients receive a prenatal diagnosis that their baby has ds (down syndrome), they can get the info they need," said UPDSA President, Cathy Dehlin.

In the past, they've raised thousands of dollars for the association.
