MARQUETTE -- With just a little over a month until election day, Democratic Congressional candidate Gary McDowell continues his Upper Peninsula tour with a stop in Marquette early Sunday afternoon.

Dozens of supporters gathered to greet McDowell in the Democratic offices on Washington Street. McDowell spoke about unemployment, preserving natural resources, and strengthening Medicare for seniors.

"Medicare needs to negotiate the prescription drug cost. We can save $49 billion over the next ten years; that's just a common sense approach that we need to take," said McDowell. "Take that money, reinvest it in Medicare to make sure that the benefits are there, not just for the current recipients, but for the future."

McDowell is running against Congressman Dan Benishek in the November elections.
