HOUGHTON COUNTY -- The documentary film, "Where Soldiers Come From," has won an Emmy Award.  Filmmaker Heather Courtney, from the Houghton area, won Monday night in New York City in the news and documentary category.

The film was based on three young National Guard members from Hancock who went off to war in Afghanistan.  They took on the tough assignment of disarming roadside bombs as part of the 1431st Company of the 107th Engineering Battalion.

Courtney followed the trio from the Keweenaw to war and back home again.  The three men were in New York along with Courtney to accept the award.
