HOUGHTON -- Michigan Technological University students are dressed to impress as they pile into the Student Development Complex for Michigan Tech's annual fall career fair.

About 280 companies were on hand to recruit MTU's best and brightest. Tech says over 3,500 students will attend Tuesday's career fair, and Tech's job placement rate has risen to 94 percent.

"The demand for engineers, IT as they call it, the stem-related graduates are in huge demand, and that's pretty typical usually during a recession and post recession where companies are figuring out ways in which they can automate, do more with their company," said Career Services Director Jim Turnquist.

The five-hour career fair also gave prospective students the opportunity to apply for internships.
