MARQUETTE -- Marquette Senior High School seniors had a visitor Friday morning, and he was encouraging them to make a difference.

State Representative Steven Lindberg spoke to a gym full of students who are able to vote for the first time in this upcoming election. Lindberg is encouraging all students to vote in local and national elections, and to become educated on each candidate's views.

The assembly was organized by the Marquette Senior High School National Honor Society.

"I think a lot of young people think that they don't need to vote," said NHS president Theo Sanyal. "And their opinions aren't really reflected in the government, but I think if they did vote, they would have more of a say in what happens."

After the assembly, the 18-year-old students who plan to vote picked up a voter's registration forms.
