MARQUETTE -- The Marquette County Community Foundation held its annual awards ceremony at Upfront & Company Thursday evening. The ceremony is a way for the foundation to honor local businesses and groups that make an impact in Marquette county.
The foundation works to invest money into programs that benefit the community. At the ceremony, they also highlighted the environmental work the Rio Tinto project has done in the area.
"These are the people that don't ask for anything. They don't do it because they expect to get something, but tonight we're going to recognize them," said Mark Canale of the Marquette County Community Foundation. "It's a way of gathering our members together and thanking them for donating."
Thursday's award winners included the Marquette General volunteers, Fred Anderson and the Marquette Regional History Center. For more information on the Marquette Community Foundation, click here.
