MARQUETTE -- A group of young girls are bringing the ice indoors this fall.

What used to be a popular men's sport is now gaining popularity with women, experts said. The Marquette Junior Hockey program accepts girls of any age. Parents, here's the kicker: you don't have to spend money on equipment, they've got a lot of it, and they don't mind sharing.

"One thing you'll find about Marquette is our numbers seem to be holding strong and growing," said Coach Tony Rabitaille.

"The girls love it, once it gets in their blood there's no turning back. They stay in it forever. I've got girls in the program now that I've coached when they were six years old."

To get your child involved stop by the Marquette Junior Hockey office at the Lakeview Arena in Marquette.
