ISHPEMING -- The Ishpeming City Council held a special meeting on Friday morning.

The council decided to reject all bids for a $115,000 road improvement project on Seventh Street, off of Division Street. City staff wants to take a closer look at infrastructure beneath the road before doing any work.

Also on Friday's agenda was the council members' evaluation of City Manager Jered Ottenwess. Mayor Pat Scanlon says a compiled report reveals Ottenwess is doing an above average job.

"I think he's improved," said Scanlon. "I think that we're fortunate to have Jered, and I think the council has an excellent city manager for many years to come if we can keep him here."

Ottenwess has served as Ishpeming's City Manager since 2010.
