ESCANABA -- A grand opening and ribbon cutting for the new Doctor's Park facility was held Thursday in Escanaba.  They officially opened just three weeks ago.

Gary Muller, the CEO of Marquette General Hospital, said the occasion was very special for Delta County.  This new facility replaces the former Doctor's Park building in Escanaba.

The new two-story building is outfitted with many medical specialists, primary care physicians, and surgical specialists.  The cost of the building was right at $12 million.

"The commitment in Delta County by Marquette General and Duke LifePoint makes this community a very important part of our whole system. The Upper Peninsula's a special place.  We want to keep people in the Upper Peninsula," said Muller.

A dedication and blessing of the healing garden helped wrap up the event after the ribbon cutting and facility tours.
