ISHPEMING -- The students at Ishpeming High School will be supporting the fight against breast cancer while they celebrate their homecoming this Friday. The Hematites are asking fans to wear pink shirts and hoodies to the football game as the Norway Knights roll into town.

The shirts were made by Yooper Shirts and bear the phrase "Fight Like a Hematite." At half-time they will also be holding a "miracle minute" donation to raise money for Cancer Care of Marquette County.

"Many of our boys on our team have had family members, friends, affected by breast cancer, and our team is about paying it forward, and this is a great way for them to support a community that has supported them all along," said Connie Bertucci, an organizer for homecoming week.

Other teams in the area also show their support for breast cancer awareness. Homecoming festivities have been going on all week. The I.H.S. homecoming parade will begin at the high school Friday at 6 p.m., ending at the football field with class floats. The football game between the Hematites and the Norway Knights will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
