MARQUETTE -- The U.P. Alzheimer's Association is looking for donations for its annual Walk to End Alzheimer's. The walk is this Saturday at the YMCA in Marquette.

Donations for this year's walk are down from previous years. This serves as the organization's largest annual fundraiser. The organization says that this money is very important to sustaining the programs and the work they do.

"These dollars fund the programs and services we do, the support groups that we provide, the educational training, the printed materials, those opportunities for us to reach out to families, individuals, provide the support they need," said Ruth Almen of the U.P. Alzheimer's Association. "This funding is so crucial for us to be able to continue that at the level we have been."

They are asking for community members to call in their donations Wednesday from 8 a.m to 5 p.m. All money donated for the walk stays in the area.
