ISHPEMING TWP. -- An Ishpeming teenager was hospitalized Sunday afternoon following a head-on collision in Ishpeming Township.

According to the Marquette County Sheriffs Department, a 17-year-old man was driving his ORV northbound on Deer Lake Road when he collided with a southbound Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Authorities say the teenager was driving on the wrong side of the road when the accident occurred just before 5 p.m. Sunday.

"He has serious injuries, [we are] not sure the full extent of them, not life threatening at this point, but he has been taken to Marquette General Hospital," said Richard Aboussleman, a sergeant with the Marquette County Sheriffs Department.

The driver of the four-wheeler was wearing a helmet.

Christopher Magnuson, 39, of Marquette was behind the wheel of the Jeep.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing.

Bell EMS, Ishpeming Township Fire Department and Ishpeming Township First Responders assisted on scene.
