HOUGHTON -- Keweenaw Pride, the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender organization on Michigan Tech's campus passed out "Gay? Fine by me" shirts to students.

Members of the group say they distributed over 500 shirts and they also say the shirts are a great way to engage in conversation with those who may not know or understand the gay rights movement.

“These types of conversations really help people broaden their horizons and become more aware of the GLBT Rights Movement in total. We have a huge movement here on campus that we work a lot for and this is one of the biggest tools that we have for outreach especially to the Ally community,” said Timothy Ward, public relations for Keweenaw Pride.

This is the eighth year the shirts were distributed. Keweenaw Pride also invited all of the shirt wearers to pose for a picture in front of the Memorial Union Building on Tech’s campus.
