HOUGHTON -- Organizers from the Copper Country community are looking for residents interested in learning and planning events about the centennial of the 1913 copper miners strike.

The meeting is Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Ontonagon Theatre.

The miners strike was one of the most significant events throughout the mining era.

The meeting tomorrow is primarily to talk to individuals, organizations, and municipal groups about what kinds of events they might want to do as part of this centennial period. We're planning some specific events, some of the groups that are already on board, but we're looking for others,” said Erik Nordberg, Michigan Tech archivist.

The miners strike centennial will start next year and run for nine months.
