LANSING -- An Upper Peninsula Michigan State Trooper received the MSP Lifesaving Award in Lansing on Thursday.

MC Ofcr. Jessica Cameron of the Sault Ste. Marie Post was honored at a special ceremony. On May 5, 2012 she responded to a call involving a person who was not breathing and had no pulse. While Border Patrol Agents performed CPR she assisted in using a defibrillator. The person regained a pulse and was taken to the hospital and treated for having a massive heart attack.

Michigan State Police recognize that without Cameron's assistance, the person may not have survived. She has been with the department since 2002 and is a 1998 graduate of Tahquamenon area schools.
