CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP -- A new report shows that Chocolay Township Police have been hard at work keeping drunk drivers off the road. According to the website Mlive.com, Chocolay Township Police average 10.5 drunk driving arrests per officer each year. This ranks them 10th out of more than 500 police agencies in the state.

"I just think in shows that, not only our department, but the different agencies throughout Marquette County, are working hard and make traffic safety and drunk and drug driving a very important issue for the people of Marquette County," said Greg Zyburt, Police Chief for Chocolay Township.

Police have already reached the number of operating while intoxicated (OWI) tickets from 2011 with three months left to go in the year. Houghton Police also showed strong numbers coming in at number 20 in the state. For the full list, click here.
