IRON MOUNTAIN -- Step Forward Michigan is partnering up with ministers and faith communities to help homeowners fight foreclosure.

Many homeowners tend to hide financial problems and foreclosures out of embarrassment. The new campaign is designed to engage leaders of all religions to reach out and promote awareness that free help is available to anyone at risk of foreclosure.

"Millions of dollars we've dispersed in assistance," said Michigan State Housing D.A. Jodi Mercer. "We have more federal funds that are available to us and we want to make sure that Michigan homeowners can take advantage of that program."

The program offers:

1. Help to make mortgage payments while unemployed.
2. Help to obtain a loan modification from your lender.
3. Help to assist homeowners who are in a severe financial crisis due to an illness or medical emergency.
