IRON RIVER -- Saturday is the Sons of American Legion Rider's, Reino Post 21, first-ever Poker Run.
All participants begin at the Stambaugh Legion Post in Iron River and drive to five other posts. At the end of the ride, they will draw cards and the highest poker hand wins a prize. All proceeds will go to help homeless veterans.
"There are 100,000 to 200,000 homeless veterans in our country right now that have to ask, 'Where do I sleep tonight?'" said Poker Run organizer, Julie Becker. "So we can't think of a better cause, as veterans ourselves, to support and raise money for."
All street legal vehicles are welcome. The event is $30 a person or $40 a couple. Tickets come with dinner and a free drink, however, you must be 21 or older. If you are interested in joining the event, the starting point is the Stambaugh Reino Post 21 located on Washington Ave. in Iron River. The phone number is (906) 265-4515.
There will be a pancake breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. and the Poker Run begins at 10:30 a.m. Riders must make the four addition stops, listed below, and receive a stamp from each locations, and then return back to the Reino Post 21 to receive their poker hand by 5 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m.
