HOUGHTON -- Congressman Dan Benishek is back in the Upper Peninsula after speaking at the Republican National Convention on Tuesday.
Benishek was the only speaker from Michigan at the RNC, and during his speech he spoke about what it was like growing up in Iron River and how he wants to see more Michigan families getting back to work.
TV6 had a chance to speak with Congressman Benishek as he made a stop in Houghton.
“The people in northern Michigan are hardworking people, and we need opportunity here to find jobs, and that's what I'm talking about,” said Benishek. “We have to have our children go somewhere else to find work. The problems people in small business have with the government outweigh their difficulty in finding customers.”
Benishek's next stop is in Baraga, where he'll tour a manufacturing company.
