ISHPEMING -- Contract talks continue between Cliffs Natural Resources and the United Steelworkers Union.  The four-year agreement expires Friday at midnight.

According to a Cliffs spokesperson, the negotiations are taking place in Pittsburgh.  They've been ongoing since early August.

Cliffs says they hope to reach a fair and equitable contract prior to the deadline.  Some 1,160 Cliffs employees are impacted by the current contract.

The Empire Mine is currently in shutdown while the Tilden Mine is operating at or near full capacity.
