MARQUETTE -- The Marquette County Road Commission is preparing for a meeting on County Road 595 Tuesday night.

The meeting will focus on the proposed road that would provide a truck route for mining and logging in the area.  County Road 595 would run from Rio Tinto's Eagle Mine in northern Marquette County to the Humboldt mill.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has raised concerns that the road will cut through wetlands and streams.

"We're asking those that have an opinion on 595 to come out and voice their opinion. We'd like to see the people that are for it to get out there and speak positively about it. Especially those that use the US-41/Wright Street/County Road 550 corridor, we need your voice heard," said Jim Iwanicki, Managing Engineer for the Marquette County Road Commission.

The meeting will be held at the University Center at Northern Michigan University.  An informational hour will begin at 6 p.m. and public comment will start at 7 p.m.
