GLADSTONE -- Gladstone saw some huge crowds Saturday at Van Cleve Park.

It was the 17th annual Delta County Jaycees Duck Races. Competitors were able to buy a rubber duck for $5 or six ducks for $20 and have them race in a heat against 300 other ducks. Each heat only took a few minutes. The top ten ducks from each heat went on to the final heat where the winners could win some great prizes, like a kayak or even $5,000.

But the event also had a complimentary picnic with hot dogs and brats, games for the kids, and a bean bags tournament.

"The sun is out. It's been an awesome turnout so far. We got a lot of people showing up. We couldn't ask for a better day," said Brian Nelson, President of the Delta County Jaycees.

The entire day saw about 9,000 ducks race in the water.
