NEGAUNEE -- Mother Nature was good to organizers of the second annual Mud Plunge.

This year, there was more mud, and the Greater Ishpeming-Negaunee Chamber of Commerce amped up the obstacles at the Suicide Hill Ski Bowl between Ishpeming and Negaunee. The 5K challenge put those taking it on through obstacles like the crawl and the climbing wall.

A record-breaking attendance this year with more than 1,000 participating.

"You get muddy, you have a ball and you do it with your friends, on a team, with your coworkers," said GINCC Director Elizabeth Peterson. "For some people it's about getting that best time, but I think it's less about that and more about just doing it and having fun."

All funds raised go toward the Ishpeming Ski Club for recreational development.
