MARQUETTE COUNTY -- Power was knocked out at the Empire Mine Friday.  There was an electrical failure at the main substation that caused a small fire.

It resulted in the loss of power to the Empire mining area and plant.  There were no injuries.  The cause of the electrical failure is still under investigation.

There was no loss of pellet production because the Empire is already in a planned shutdown.  The Tilden Mine was not affected.
