MARQUETTE -- The Marquette Rotary West Seafood Fest gets underway Thursday evening, and there are a few changes to the annual event. It is the 29th year for the festival that has raised over $500,000 for Marquette County non-profit organizations.

Thursday night, there is a waterfront dinner gala that sold-out well in advance.

Friday night at 7:30 p.m., "Project Pink," a Pink Floyd tribute band, takes the stage. Tickets for that can be purchased through NMU ticket outlets or at the concert.

"Saturday is the Seafood Fest that everyone is familiar with," said co-chairman Christine Pesola. "We have the 'Show & Shine' car show, it's the kick-off of the United Way campaign for 2012-13, we have the car giveaway for Child and Family Services."

Saturday's events are free and run from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. There will be local bands, games for kids, and plenty of seafood and other cuisine by Vango's.

Many volunteers make this weekend possible, but organizers would especially like to thank J.P. Electric and Ferrell Gas for donating time to set-up equipment.

More information on the entire weekend is available on the Seafood Fest web site.
