ESCANABA -- A Gladstone man stands accused of hitting a young girl rollerblader with his vehicle.

Twenty-three-year-old Travis Anthony Reed was in Delta County District Court on Wednesday. He is charged with reckless driving causing serious impairment of bodily function.

According to Escanaba Public Safety, the girl was rollerblading east on Ludington Street in the 200 block the night of August 6. Reed was driving west when he apparently ran into the girl. He did stop at the scene of the incident.

The girl was hospitalized, but has since been released.

Reed is out of jail on bond, but will be back in court August 30.
