Two facing numerous burglary charges appear in court

MANISTIQUE -- The two people arrested in early July on numerous burglary charges were in court on Wednesday in Manistique.

Michael Alan Olsen, 24, and 22-year-old Samantha Jo Jenerou were in court for allegedly being involved in the breaking and entering of three homes in Schoolcraft County and at least three more homes in Manistique.

Olsen plead guilty to three of the 13 counts he faced. He was originally charged with 13 counts of burglary or larceny-related crimes, including one count of first degree home invasion, which is punishable by 20 years in prison.  He is also charged with additional felonies, which includes four counts of second degree home invasion, one count of attempted second degree home invasion, one count of breaking and entering, one count of conspiracy to commit second degree home invasion, and one count of possession of burglary tools.  Olsen also faces three counts of larceny, more than $1,000 and less than $20,000, and one count of illegal possession of a financial transaction device.

Jenerou entered a not guilty plea to the 14 counts of burglary or larceny-related crimes she is facing. She faces a charge of first degree home invasion as well as other felony charges, including four counts of second degree home invasion, one count of attempted second degree home invasion, one count of breaking and entering, one count of conspiracy to commit second degree home invasion, and one count of possession of burglary tools. Jenerou also faces three counts of larceny, more than $1,000 and less than $20,000, one count of stealing a financial transaction device, and one count of illegal possession of a financial transaction device.

Olsen will be in court on October 25 for his sentencing at 10 a.m., and Jenerou will be back in Schoolcraft County Court on October 11.
