CALUMET -- Summer hours will continue until the end of this month at the Keweenaw National Historical Park's Visitor Center.

The visitor center is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.  The center is coming up on its one year anniversary, and it offers two floors of exhibits which detail life in a copper mining community.

"For residents, it's coming into touch with your family's past.  For visitors from outside the area, it's a fascinating story.  The copper story here is really the story of the crux of the American industrial revolution," said Park Ranger, Thomas Baker.

There are also 26 Keweenaw Heritage sites you can visit which spans about 115 miles.
