GLADSTONE -- Retired FBI Special Agent, Jim Caverly, is biking across the country to bring awareness to a program called Concerns of Police Survivors, or C.O.P.S.

Caverly included a trip across the U.P. as part of his cross country trek. He started biking at the end of May on the coast of Oregon.  He expects to end the ride in Maine in September.  It's about a 4,200 mile trip.

Caverly's wife, Jeanne, drives along and is a support vehicle for the mission.  The goal is to raise $30,000 for the program.

"About 150 or so police officers give their life in the line of duty every year, and the umbrella for those police officers is just tremendous.  You have parents and spouses and siblings and children," said Caverly.
