MARQUETTE -- The Coast Guard rescued four swimmers Friday evening who were stranded at Picnic Rocks.  Marquette emergency services received the call at 6:10 p.m.

The police and fire departments responded along with the Coast Guard.  The Coast Guard evacuated the swimmers in high seas and difficult conditions.  The swimmers were transported to the Coast Guard station.

The three men and one woman, all in their 20s, were ticketed by police.  They were visiting Marquette from the Kansas City area.

Marquette beaches were closed Friday due to high winds and strong waves.
