ESCANABA -- WDBC and WYKX radio stations, along with Walgreens and the General Federation Women's Club, are sponsoring back to school "Wishes on Wheels".  It helps kids in the Escanaba area prepare for the school year.

The event was from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and will take place again Friday at Walgreens in Escanaba.

The program filled more than 150 backpacks for students last year.  This year, the goal is the same:  to collect school items like pencils and markers and large backpacks. They'll all end up in a big yellow bus.

"The school bus, we're going to try to fill it with backpacks.  It's for our district and other areas like Bark River, Rapid River.  It's just our whole community," said Diane Lahtinen of the Women's Club.

Walgreens is also offering $10 brown bags that you can purchase.
