MARQUETTE -- With the primary elections over, voters now have a clear picture of who will face off for the 109th District State Representative race in the general election in November.

Marquette native John Kivela won the Democratic race for state representative, while Jack Hubbard won on the Republican ticket. Both candidates were pleased with their wins but know that the work is not over just yet.

"We're going to work all four counties, Alger, Schoolcraft, Luce and Marquette, and work them hard," said Kivela. "We did that this previous campaign, and we'll continue to do that. It's a big district, and there's unique problems in the whole district."

"I believe very strongly that this district needs somebody to fight for what we need in this district, and I'm certainly accustomed to doing that, and I want to get that message out to the people," said Hubbard.

The candidates will have three months to campaign, with the general election being held on November 6.
