MARQUETTE -- A Marquette culinary chef has been served a taste of victory.

Chadd Wellman is Executive Chef at Elizabeth's Chophouse on Front Street. He was recently recognized as "Chef of the Year" by the American Culinary Federation.

Wellman has worked at the Chophouse for the last five years and has been a member of the Culinary Federation for eight.  He was one of four nominees.

To win, chefs must be active members in the federation and be nominated by another member for their work.  The traveling trophy, he says, comes with great expectations.

"It comes with the responsibility that you have to show up and show everybody that you're worth it, that you've put that much effort toward it, and being an ACF member just makes me so proud. It's an amazing thing to be a part of," said Wellman.

Wellman is the second chef from the Chophouse to receive the award in the last three years.
