Saturday was so disappointing for severe weather! Most of the U.P. received at least some rain (Windigo received the most with nearly half of an inch of rain), but there was very little in the way of thunderstorms. The cold front that passed extends very far south and brought plenty of severe weather to other parts of the country. Chicago got hammered with very high winds and heavy rain, and there was even a tornado report in northwest Indiana. Check out Saturday's storm reports.

As for Sunday in the U.P., things are looking very different from Saturday's forecast. Some clouds early in the day will start to clear away into the afternoon. A few light lingering showers in the east associated with a weaker secondary cold front will dissipate as well. A strong northwest wind around 15-25 mph will keep it much cooler. Highs will only reach into the low 70s, but some locations near Lake Superior may only get into the upper 60s.

Because of the strong winds out of the northwest, there is a high rip current risk. Check out this graphic from the National Weather Service.

Sunday night will see calmer conditions as high pressure moves in. Winds will decrease out of the west and skies will become clear. This will greatly enhance radiational cooling, and lows will fall into the low 50s, warmest near the lakes and coolest in the western interior with lows in the 40s.

As the high moves away on Monday, we'll start to pick up a southwest wind, and temperatures will feel more summerlike in the low 80s. Skies should be mostly sunny.

Monday night will see another weaker cold front pass the U.P. Showers and thundershowers are looking likely along the front late Monday night. Lows will mainly be in the 60s.

Tuesday will see some lingering rain early in the east with the cold front before clearing again for a mostly sunny day.
