QUINNESEC -- The Almost Home Animal Shelter in Quinnesec is having an open house this Saturday.
Management of the new facility saved funds for eight years, and it took two-and-a-half years to build. The shelter is allowing the public to come and tour the new facility from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
"We really are anxious for everybody to come down and see the new shelter," said Shelter Manager Diane Luczak. "They'll be able to view all the rooms, see all the nice animals we have."
New amenities include 18 inches of insulation and in-floor heat for the dog kennel. Staff hope to eventually build a dog park next to shelter for the community to have a place for their pets to play.
