MARQUETTE -- People walked through Lower Harbor in Marquette Wednesday to support breastfeeding as August is "World Breastfeeding Awareness Month."

It's the second year the Marquette County Women Infant and Children program (WIC) hosted the walk.  Dozens of parents and kids came out during lunch Wednesday.  It was also a way to help educate parents-to-be.

"Babies are born to be breastfed; it's such a normal natural thing.  So to get those facts and ideas out to many moms and dads before they are even parents is important so they can start the road for lifelong nutrition," said WIC Peer Counselor, Vicki Wood.

Afterwards, supporters enjoyed a picnic at Marquette Commons.

On Saturday they'll try to break the world record for most babies breastfeeding.  It starts at 10 a.m., at the U.P. Children's Museum.
