ONTONAGON -- A motorcycle crash on private property sent a western Upper Peninsula man to the hospital on Wednesday.
The Michigan State Police reported that the incident happened Wednesday night around 7:30 in Ontonagon. A 71-year-old man was operating a motorcycle in a field on his property, when he drove over a small incline and went airborne. Police said he was thrown from the motorcycle.
The man, who is not being identified at this time, was not wearing a helmet and suffered possible head injuries. He was taken to Aspirus Grandview and then transferred to Marquette General Hospital. His current condition is not available.
The state police continue to investigate the crash, but believe speed was a contributing factor.
