MARQUETTE -- Crews working on the US-41 construction project between Marquette and Harvey had to repair some minor damage caused by Wednesday morning's heavy rain.

The rain overwhelmed erosion control measures that were already in place between the road and the new bike path.  The topsoil that had been placed did not yet have a chance to settle.

Michigan Department of Transportation guidelines include inspection of the project after any rainfall.  Crews have put in sediment traps along with a silt fence and other measures to repair the minor damage.

The road itself was unaffected.
