ESCANABA -- On Thursday, the Escanaba High School Robotics Club brought their robot named Christine to M-TEC as part of Lego Robotics Camp.

The camp is for children seven to twelve years old in four counties. Participants learned about the types of robots there are and got hands-on opportunities in customizing and constructing their robots.

The event is hosted by Michigan Works in partnership with M-TEC and the Regional Industrial Manufacturing Skills Alliance. The program also provides work experience for the teens who act as day camp instructors.

"Yeah, it's fun seeing new kids once a week and just getting to know them and battling with the robots," said counselor Robin Beauvais. "We do that on Thursdays with the kids, and they get all excited. It's fun because the kids love talking to you and telling you really funny stories."

This year the camp is including new alternative energy components so the kids can learn about water, wind, and solar energy.
