Pedestrian hit by vehicle, in critical condition

ISHPEMING -- A 64-year-old woman is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle in Ishpeming on Wednesday.

The Ishpeming Police Department said that the woman was crossing N. Third Street near the Holiday Gas Station when she was struck by a pickup truck, driven by a 50-year-old Ely Township man. According to police, the driver left the Holiday Gas Station, turned on N. Third Street, and struck the woman.

The victim was taken to Marquette General Hospital where she underwent surgery and is now listed in critical condition.

The driver of the truck has been taken into custody for driving on a revoked license, causing serious injury, which is punishable by up to five years in prison and a $1,000 to $5,000 fine if convicted.
