BARAGA COUNTY -- A man originally charged with attempted murder was sentenced in Baraga County Circuit Court on Wednesday.

Thirty-three-year-old Douglass Garver received 23 months to 10 years, with credit for 52 days already served.

Last month Garver pled no contest to his sixth count of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder. For that guilty plea, the five other charges were dropped.

The victims of Garver's crime spoke out in court on Wednesday, and Garver said he was sorry for what he did.

This case related to a Baraga apartment being broken into, one of the residents being severely injured, and the damage of property back in 2011.
