CALUMET -- Goodwill Industries in Calumet is happy to announce that their recycling center is now permanently open for business.

A few months ago Goodwill opened the recycling center for Earth Day and they received an overwhelmingly positive response from the community. Goodwill says there aren't a lot of recycling centers in the area and they're thrilled to give the community what it needs.

"From our standpoint it's better because we generate some revenue to support our programs here with Goodwill, but of course we all know that it's better to recycle, reduce, and reuse to help our environment," said Goodwill Regional Manager Keith Stenger.

Some of the items accepted at the recycling center are metal, cardboard, plastic, and electronic waste.

If you're interested in recycling or donating to Goodwill, the center is open Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
