MARQUETTE -- Kids got to play with some creepy crawlers Tuesday at the Moosewood Nature Center as part of a summer class on the Monarch butterfly.

Class started by talking about the anatomy of the caterpillar.  Students then got to compare a diagram with the real thing.  They spent some time handling the caterpillars.  Afterwards they went to the garden to find food for them.

"We'll learn the anatomy of the caterpillar, it has true legs and pro legs; we'll learn what it eats, learn to identify the only plant the monarch caterpillar eats," said Sue Payant, the "Butterfly Lady".

The course runs for two more days. Kids will learn about insect habitats and the Monarch butterfly migration.
