LANSING (AP) -- The remains of an Army Reserve soldier from suburban Detroit who died in Afghanistan have arrived in Michigan in advance of his funeral Wednesday at Great Lakes National Cemetery.

Gov. Rick Snyder on Monday ordered U.S. flags in Michigan be lowered to half-staff Wednesday in honor of Staff Sgt. Matthew J. Leach of Ferndale. The 29 year old died June 26 in Kandahar during his third combat deployment.

The Pentagon didn't release the circumstances of Leach's death.

WDWB-TV (

Visitation is 2-9 p.m. Tuesday at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons funeral home in Sterling Heights. The funeral is at noon Wednesday at the military cemetery in Oakland County's Holly Township.
