Man swerves to miss deer, rolls vehicle

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP -- A Mohawk man sustained minor injuries after swerving and rolling his vehicle to avoid hitting a deer.

The Houghton County Sheriff's Department says 52-year-old Scott John Laurie was traveling south on US-41 near Lake Annie Road in Franklin Township when the accident occurred.

It happened at around 4:15 Tuesday morning.

Laurie was transported to Portage Health Hospital by Mercy Ambulance.

Michigan Tech State Police and fire departments from Calumet, Quincy-Franklin, and Boston assisted at the scene.
