A trend of seasonal temperatures continues as we wrap up the weekend. Sunday's highs should be in the upper 70s to low 80s. Skies should see some clouds move in during the afternoon. As a weak disturbance enters the area it should bring a few light rain showers in the peak heat of the afternoon hours and into parts of the evening. A thundershower is possible too.
Sunday night will see a few lingering showers, but they should steadily clear away to reveal partly cloudy skies. Lows will be in the 50s to low 60s and winds will be light and variable.
Monday's highs will be a little less warm in the 70s as winds turn out of the north, but right on track for seasonal highs. Skies should be partly to mostly sunny with a possible isolated shower.
As a high pressure center moves over the upper Great Lakes Monday night, skies will become mostly clear and conditions will be near calm. This will make it quite cool with lows falling into the upper 40s to low 50s, coolest along the Wisconsin line and warmest near the lakes.
A trend of relatively normal summer temperatures and dry conditions persists throughout the upcoming week as a high pressure ridge dominates our weather pattern. Things will start to warm up after Wednesday behind the exiting high pressure system.
It's been so hot recently, and the National Weather Service in Marquette is now saying that 2012 is the warmest start to a year on record. That also means that Lake Superior's water temperatures are much warmer than they normally would be at this time of year too. I guess you won't be hearing the words "cooler near the lake" as much.
