MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP -- With these high temperatures, we want to remind you to keep your pets cool.  Try to keep your pets indoors with the air conditioning as much as possible.

If you're going out for a walk, do so in shaded areas.  Make sure your pet is well-hydrated at all times.

There are some things you can do if your pet has symptoms of heat exhaustion.

"You want tepid water.  You don't want cold water to start to change their body temperature back to more normal.  If you soak those towels in tepid waters, place it on the dog in order to bring their temperature back down and then call your vet clinic. Don't put pets in ice baths.  That can actually cause more problems," said Dr. Kellie Holmstrom.

Holstrom also says don't leave any pets in the car.
