MUNISING -- Fourth of July celebrations started early in Munising.

People gathered at the Veterans Hall Memorial in Bay Shore Park to commemorate the American flag.

They also came to show respect to the men and women who have and still are serving our country.

Past Commander of the American Legion, Herbert Brown says it's such special day full of events.

"It's one of our special days and we start with the flag raising, the parade later on at 12:30 p.m., and there will be a lot of things going on in the park all afternoon," said Brown.

After the ceremony many people stayed to observe the memorial.
