MUNISING -- Residents in Munising had a chance to check out the new city hall building in the downtown district.
What was formerly Northern Bank and Trust has become the new location for city hall. The building has been essentially vacant for ten years. City officials are pleased with the new move. They say the building is a perfect fit and will be more efficient in a number of ways.
"The real key is that the commission put this whole package together, we didn't have to go to any bonding, didn't have to borrow any money. We did not have to go to the taxpayer for any added taxes or anything like that," said Munising City manager, Doug Bovin.
Monday was the open house for city hall, residents got a chance to tour the entire building. City hall is located on the corner of Birch and Superior Streets in downtown Munising.
The mayor and other city officials are currently reviewing proposals for signing on the building.
