HARRIS -- A total of 144 ladies, including one amateur from the U.P., are playing in the second Island Resort Championship at Sweetgrass.
During this windy day on the course, 27 countries were represented. The leaderboard was packed, and many of the pros spent time warming up for the afternoon rounds. On Saturday there will be a morning and afternoon wave. The top 70 players will get to play Sunday.
The tournament is bringing a lot of traffic to the area, and that's boosting the Delta County economy.
"Their families are here. They're eating at local restaurants. I think it's just a great example of what a town like this can do to help out a community and like you said, the hotel rooms," said Chase Young, a tournament coordinator.
Sunday is the last day. The total prize is $110,000, and the first place winner gets about $16,000.
